Acupuncture for Lower Back, Neck and Muscular Pain

Acupuncture has been shown to have positive effects in reducing acute or chronic pain symptoms. According to the NINDS it is estimated that up to 80% of the population will suffer from some sort of back discomfort at some point in their lives, with the lower back as the most common location of discomfort. It is the most common cause of job-related disability and a leading contributor to missed work days. In a large survey, more than a quarter of adults reported experiencing low back pain during the past 3 months.

A review of 6,376 patients with chronic pain found that 90% of the pain relieving benefits of acupuncture persisted for 12 months after treatment (MacPherson H. et al “The persistence of the effects of acupuncture after a course of treatment: A meta analysis of patients with chronic pain. Pain 2016)

A natural way to reduce pain

Acupuncture has also shown to assist with reduction in acute pain symptoms in:

  • Labour Pain
  • Oocyte retrieval pain
  • Primary dysmenorrhoea
  • Tension type headaches
  • Migraine
  • Post-operative pain
  • Back pain
  • Acute burns pain

Acupuncture treatments can also be combined with cupping, electro-acupuncture, light therapy and massage. With chronic muscular pain we suggest around 8-10 treatments or more for significant relief. Additional herbal supplements may also be prescribed.
