Stress Management
Everyone experiences stress or worry at different times in life. While some level of stress is normal, ongoing tension can leave us feeling tired, overwhelmed, or out of balance. When we are healthy and the stress is short-lived, we are usually able to recover without too much damage to our overall health. However, when the stress is extreme and becomes long term it can impact our emotional health and over time affect our physical health too. Taking time to slow down and reconnect with yourself can play an important role in supporting your overall wellbeing.
Long term stress in our bodies results in a constant state of a “fight or flight” response to deal with the stress. Over time, this constant state of stress takes its toll on our bodies. Cortisol, the body’s stress hormone rises, resulting in our blood pressure increasing and our immune function becomes suppressed. These symptoms can worsen in chronic conditions and possibly develop into anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, digestive issues and headaches.
At the Acupuncture & Beauty Centre, we offer gentle, complementary approaches designed to promote relaxation and balance. These sessions are about providing a calm space to pause, breathe, and restore a sense of harmony.
Chinese Medical Perspective
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), emotional and physical wellbeing are viewed as interconnected. From this perspective, stress or worry impact the LIVER energy which can affect the flow of energy (qi) in the body. Acupuncture and related techniques are believed to support the smooth movement of qi and help encourage a sense of calm and balance. Sessions are focused on restoring balance through gentle, personalised care. Some clients describe feeling more relaxed, centred, and grounded after their treatment.
Stress, anxiety, or emotional tension can influence sleep, focus, and overall vitality. Acupuncture, mindfulness practices, and relaxation therapies are often chosen by people looking to support their ability to help unwind and rebalance.
From a Western viewpoint, the body works to alleviate stress by releasing natural pain-killing chemicals in the brain, called endorphins.
