A Personalised, Whole-Person Approach to Health & Wellbeing practiced for Thousands of Years
Your health is more than a collection of symptoms. Your care should reflect the whole person.
Perhaps you've been experiencing ongoing health concerns, changes in your wellbeing or simply want to explore a more personalised approach to looking after yourself.
At Acupuncture & Beauty Centre, we offer Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultations that take time to understand your health history, current concerns, lifestyle and individual needs.
Led by Eli Huang, a registered Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Practitioner with over 17 years of clinical experience, our approach combines traditional Chinese medicine principles with contemporary healthcare awareness and thoughtful, individualised care.
With clinics in Sydney CBD and Fairfield, we welcome you to explore how Chinese medicine may fit into your broader healthcare journey.
What Is Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a system of healthcare with a long history of practice in China and other parts of East Asia.
It encompasses several therapeutic approaches, including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, Gua Sha, moxibustion and traditional manual therapies.
TCM takes a whole-person perspective, considering physical symptoms alongside factors such as sleep, digestion, daily routines, lifestyle and emotional wellbeing.
Traditional Chinese Medicine uses concepts such as Qi, Yin and Yang, the Five Elements and meridian pathways to understand patterns of health and guide treatment decisions.
These concepts form part of traditional medical philosophy and should not be confused with scientifically established anatomical structures or physiological mechanisms.
Today, TCM may be used alongside conventional healthcare, with treatment suitability and the available evidence considered for each individual's circumstances.
Understanding the Philosophy Behind Chinese Medicine
Looking at the Whole Person
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, health is understood through the relationships between different aspects of the body, lifestyle and environment.
Rather than focusing only on one symptom, a Chinese medicine consultation may explore patterns across several areas of your wellbeing.
Yin and Yang
Yin and Yang represent complementary and interconnected qualities in Chinese philosophy. In TCM, these concepts help practitioners describe patterns and relationships within the body.
Qi and Meridians
Qi is a traditional concept often translated as vital energy, while meridians are pathways described in classical Chinese medicine theory.
These ideas inform traditional assessment and treatment planning.
The Five Elements
Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water are used within Chinese medicine to describe relationships, patterns and seasonal influences.
These traditional frameworks guide Chinese medicine reasoning but do not replace medical diagnosis or investigations.
Individualised Care
Your treatment is based on your health history, current concerns, preferences and a practitioner assessment rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Explore Our Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatments
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine, sterile needles at selected points on the body.
It may be used as part of complementary healthcare, with the supporting evidence varying according to the health concern.
Chinese herbal medicine involves the use of carefully selected herbal preparations following an individual consultation.
Your practitioner considers your health history, medications, allergies and potential interactions before recommending herbal products.
Cupping uses specially designed cups to create suction against the skin.
It is a traditional hands-on technique that may be incorporated into Chinese medicine care where appropriate
Gua Sha involves controlled strokes across the skin using a smooth-edged tool, such as jade or another suitable material.
The technique may be used on selected areas of the body, depending on your individual needs.
Moxibustion is a traditional warming technique that involves applying controlled heat using moxa, commonly made from dried mugwort.
Its suitability depends on your health circumstances and treatment needs.
TUI NA — Chinese Therapeutic Massage
Tui Na is a traditional Chinese manual therapy incorporating massage, pressure and other hands-on techniques.
It may be included in a broader treatment plan where appropriate.
DIET & LIFESTYLE GUIDANCE
Traditional Chinese Medicine also considers everyday habits such as food choices, sleep, physical activity and seasonal routines.
Where appropriate, we provide general lifestyle guidance tailored to your individual circumstances and health goals.
