Cosmetic acupuncture, also known as facial acupuncture or facial rejuvenation acupuncture, is a non-surgical treatment that uses very fine acupuncture needles placed at selected points on the face and, where appropriate, the body.

Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, cosmetic acupuncture combines traditional acupuncture techniques with a contemporary, skin-focused

approach.

Some people choose it as part of their regular skincare and self-care routine, particularly when they prefer a more holistic facial treatment experience.

Unlike a standard beauty facial, cosmetic acupuncture involves acupuncture needle insertion by a registered practitioner and an individualised consultation.

It is important to understand that cosmetic acupuncture is not equivalent to

cosmetic injectables, surgical procedures or other medical aesthetic treatments. Research into specific cosmetic outcomes remains limited, and changes in skin appearance cannot be guaranteed.

We begin by discussing your skin concerns, current skincare routine, relevant medical history, previous cosmetic procedures and what you would like from your treatments.

2. Personalised Cosmetic Acupuncture

Fine, sterile, single-use acupuncture needles are placed at selected points on your face and body according to your individual treatment plan.

Your comfort and suitability for treatment are considered throughout the appointment.

3. Complementary Facial Care

Depending on your needs and the treatment selected, your appointment may also incorporate facial massage, light therapy, gua sha, jade rollers, hydrating masks, serums or light-based skincare techniques.

As a registered Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Practitioner, she has more than 17 years of clinical experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

As a qualified Beauty Therapist with over 20+ years of experience, she has a longstanding interest in skin health, natural beauty and healthy ageing.

This combination allows Eli to offer a personalised facial treatment experience that considers both your skincare goals and your broader wellbeing.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetic Acupuncture

What is the difference between cosmetic acupuncture and a facial?

A traditional beauty facial generally involves skincare products and surface techniques such as cleansing, exfoliation, massage and masks. Cosmetic acupuncture involves the insertion of fine acupuncture needles at selected points and may be combined with facial skincare treatments.

Does cosmetic acupuncture hurt?

The needles used are very fine. Some people feel a brief prick, tingling or mild aching sensation during insertion. Sensitivity varies, and your comfort is considered throughout the appointment.

Can cosmetic acupuncture reduce wrinkles or lift the face?

Research into the cosmetic effects of facial acupuncture is still limited. It is not possible to guarantee wrinkle reduction, lifting or other changes in facial appearance. We discuss your goals and realistic expectations during your consultation.

Is cosmetic acupuncture suitable for mature skin?

Adults of different ages may enquire about cosmetic acupuncture as part of their skincare routine. Suitability depends on your individual health, skin condition and relevant medical history.

How many cosmetic acupuncture treatments will I need?

There is no standard number of treatments suitable for everyone. Some clients choose an individual appointment, while others prefer a series of sessions as part of their regular self-care routine. We can discuss options without requiring you to commit to a package.

Are there any side effects?

As with other forms of acupuncture, temporary redness, tenderness or bruising may occur. Occasionally, other adverse reactions are possible. We discuss relevant precautions and suitability before treatment.

Can I have cosmetic acupuncture if I've had Botox or fillers?

Please tell us about any recent or planned cosmetic injectables, skin procedures or surgery. We will consider the timing and suitability of acupuncture, and may recommend checking with your cosmetic medical practitioner before proceeding.

Can cosmetic acupuncture be combined with other facial treatments?

Depending on your skin and circumstances, complementary beauty treatments such as facial massage, gua sha or hydrating skincare may be incorporated into your appointment.

Includes a consultation to understand your skin concerns and health history, followed by personalised cosmetic acupuncture treatment.
Subsequent Treatments (approx 75 mins) — $195
Ongoing personalised cosmetic acupuncture and complementary facial care as appropriate.
10-Session Package (includes 1 complimentary session) — $1,800
An option for clients who prefer to incorporate regular appointments into their skincare and self-care routine.
